Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 2025-10-27

1) Who runs this site

Owner/operator: a natural person (individual). WaveFibs is a personal, non-commercial project. There is no registered company. The site may accept voluntary donations to cover hosting and tooling; donations are not payment for services and do not create a client relationship.

2) Aim & scope

My goal is to make wavefibs.com usable by as many people as possible and to align with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA for web content. This statement covers the website’s core pages and features. WCAG 2.1 is the internationally recognised benchmark that also underpins EU accessibility requirements via EN 301 549. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

3) What’s in place today

  • Semantic HTML landmarks, descriptive headings, and consistent focus styles.
  • Color-contrast checks (target ≥ 4.5:1 for text) and reduced-motion fallbacks.
  • Keyboard operability for menus, links, and dialogs; visible focus order.
  • Accessible names for icons and controls (ARIA where appropriate), and alt text for informative images.
  • Caption support for videos I publish and no auto-play on embeds I control.

4) Compatibility & technical prerequisites

Best on current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge. Pages are designed to work with common screen readers and OS/page zoom up to 200% without loss of function.

5) Known limitations

  • Third-party embeds (e.g., TradingView charts, YouTube) may not fully meet WCAG. They load only after cookie consent; titles and captions are provided where available.
  • Older blog posts may lack complete alternative text; I am fixing these on a rolling basis.
  • Real-time tickers can update frequently and may be verbose for screen readers; a “reduced updates” toggle is planned.

6) How I assess accessibility

  • Self-assessment against WCAG 2.1 AA.
  • Automated checks during development (e.g., Lighthouse/axe).
  • Planned audit: independent WCAG verification when resources permit.

7) Feedback & contact

If you encounter a barrier, email [email protected] with the page URL, assistive tech used, and a short description. I aim to reply within 5 business days and resolve within 15 business days where possible.

8) Enforcement & complaints (EU)

This site follows the spirit of the EU Web Accessibility framework. If you are not satisfied with my response, you may use your Member State’s national web-accessibility enforcement body under Article 10 of the EU Web Accessibility Directive. I will cooperate in good faith with the authority’s inquiries. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}

Steps:

  • Step 1 — Contact me at [email protected] and allow up to 15 business days for remediation.
  • Step 2 — If unresolved, submit a formal complaint to your national enforcement body (include my response and details of the barrier).
  • Step 3 — If still unresolved, you may pursue available out-of-court or judicial remedies under national law.

9) Preparation of this statement

Prepared on 2025-08-08; reviewed periodically and after major releases.

Planned improvements
Skip-to-content link; reduced-motion variants for animated elements; transcript links under embedded videos; accessible toggles for data tables and charts.
